  • Happiness is a Warm Parker, Momma

Hawaii Field Notes by 16-year-old surfer Parker Coffin: I recently returned from a trip to Hawaii for two contests in January and February. The first one was an ASP Pro Jr at Sunset Beach, and the other the Volcom Pipe Pro. I love going to Hawaii. The waves are really good and challenging. The weather is warm and there are tons of hot babes in bikinis. This video covers the first half of my trip. It includes the surf spots Sunset Beach, Rocky Point, Off the Wall and Backdoor. The funny lady in this video with the cat is named Stephanie. She is new to the North Shore, and sleeps in a tent right in front of Pipe. She's so hilarious. There's even a sneak look at Surfing magazine's bikini … MORE >>

  • Brosnan & Hill Reserve "Party of Two" on Podium

2x UCI Downhill MTB Junior World Champion Troy Brosnan continued his perfect form, narrowly edging out SPY teammate and 3x UCI Downhill MTB World Champion Sam Hill, to claim his third consecutive victory in the Australian National series over the weekend. "I had a great weekend again. It all went really well for me," said Troy. "The rain on Friday had completely dried up making the track get that slippery dusty top surface. There were also some big gusts of wind for the triple treat jumps section. So it got a little wild but I held it together. I'm super stoked with my effort and looking forward to taking my form into the World Cups." After qualifying 5th, Sam Hill put in a solid lap in … MORE >>

  • Bob Soven is on SPY

Bob Soven can't help but stand out from the crowd. With a personality that's as untamed as his orange locks, Bob is equally adept at pulling pranks as he is innovating tricks—most notably the Trifecta and Billion Dollar Baby. But he's not just another high flippin' wakeboarder. Bob will soon be as visible as Snooki and 16-year-old baby mammas, when his own MTV show Wake Brothers begins airing this June. The reality series will focus on the Soven brother's "sibling rivalry on steroids," as Bob tries to eclipse big bro and professional wakeboarder Phil Soven in and around the lagoon. Bob was added to the SPY team in 2012, and the SoCal based sunglass and goggle brand is as thrilled to … MORE >>

  • John John Goes Buckaroo at Banzai

John John Florence claimed his second consecutive Volcom Pipe Pro win, stroking into a buzzer-beating Backdoor bomb to overtake Jamie O'Brien by a half of a point in the dying seconds of the contest final.

Jamie O'Brien (J.O.B.) led for the majority of the heat with a 19.40 point total (combined from top two scores on a scale of 10), leaving 19-year-old John John in need of two nearly perfect scores. With four minutes left in the heat John John nabbed a perfect 10-point ride to close the gap, followed by a 9.93 in the dying seconds—surpassing J.O.B. to win one of the most dramatic surf competition finishes ever.

"I went to give Jamie a congratulations hug and then I turned around … MORE >>

  • Alex Gray Is On SPY

SPY Optic™ announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with professional surfer, 2011 Surfer Poll "Best Barrel" winner and all-around hell man Alex Gray.

This past year was a particularly "big" one for Alex, nabbing some of the heaviest waves during Tavarua and Teahupoo's historic "Code Red" swells, earning him the coveted "Best Barrel" honor and a nomination for Billabong's XXL award. More recently Gray was part of the paddle crew that took on massive Jaws—a remote wave on Maui with so much size and velocity that most surfers only tow into it. Despite a thirst and aptitude for treacherous surf, the 25-year-old also holds his own when it comes to laying it on rail or punting … MORE >>

  • Jared Mell is on SPY

Jared Mell is a surfer's surfer. His approach to riding logs can be best described as modern classic—or Surf-a-Billy as he calls it. He's most known for his nimble, cat-like footwork on the front of a 10' surfboard, but don't overlook his ability to surf just about any kind of wave craft—or couch. His love for traditional surfboards, old vinyl records, vintage cameras and natural herbs keep him rolling from continent to continent in search of his next ride. We love Jared Mell, and Jared Mell is now on SPY.
