Clay Marzo surfs in Quiksilver Pro NY Trials Tomorrow

The Quiksilver Pro New York supported by vitaminwater, the 6^th of 11 stops on the 2011 ASP World Tour, is the richest surfing competition to be staged anywhere in the world in the sport's 36-year professional history.

The main event will be held on the four best days of surf during the 11-day waiting period from September 5-15.

16 surfers, including Spy's Clay Marzo, will compete for the second and final wildcard into the main event. The trial will be on Sunday Sept 4th. For more contest info visit the site here.

In most of the surf movies we see the best of footage. Most of us become unaware of the commitment it takes to get those great clips. We may also forget there is a price to pay, in getting the viewers attention and to make yourself a surf star. There's a yin and yang or balance to everything. We all see Clay Marzo as a freak in surfing talent. Tail whips, crazy spins, crazy airs, excellent tube riding skills and cat like balance. That kid never falls, how's he do that? In this video Clay Marzo is not afraid to expose the yin in his surfing. It's the price he pays to entertain us, to woo us and bring us to a place in surfing that we all can only dream about. Even the freakishly talented Clay painfully pays for our enjoyment. Are you really ready to surf like Clay Marzo?

Spy has a very small surf team but it's elite. Look at the 1st day high waves score for the day. Torrey Meister and John Florence held the #1 and #2 spot so far in this event. The Spy team rippers who had unsuccessful heats today were Tyler Newton and Clay Marzo. But they will be standouts wherever they surf during the winter on the North Shore. US Open of Surfing

It's that time again for the US Open of Surfing. The US's biggest surf event. Huntington Beach is sunny and the crowds are here. Spy surfer's in the junior pro division are John Florence, Alana Blanchard, Evan Thompson, Tyler Newton and Nick Rupp. In the WQS event are Dean Morrison, Alana Blanchard, Ben Bourgeois, Mike Losness, John Florence, Clay Marzo and Torrey Meister. The juniors has started the first 2 days and after some hard heats the remaining surfers are John Florence and Evan Thompson into the quarter finals. The men WQS trials has finished and Mike Losness advanced into the main event. There are going to be some exciting times during the next week so check back for the updates and some great pics! Enjoy! Hey Spy supporters, family and friends

If your not familiar with surfing, Taylor Steele is the godfather of making surf movies. He's help build many careers in the past since the beginning of 1990. Well, Taylor has a new project called Innersection, http://innersection.tv/ This is a web based contest where surfers submit a max 3 min surf video that showcases their surfing ability and the online viewers vote for their favorite video. There are 2 stages for voting. The 1st stage is making it into the top 10 selections. The 2nd stage of voting is making it into the top 5 selections. The top 5 videos will be put into the Innersection DVD for sale. There are 4 submission times. July 1 was the 3rd one and Sept 1 is the final time.

We have 4 surfers, Dean Morrison, Clay Marzo, John Florence and Torrey Meister in this round. We need your support and votes to help get them through into the top 5 selection of this round.

To vote for our surfers you need to join and you can really help by rating them. Once you log in there will be stars on the right side of their section. Don't be scared to rate them at 10 stars and throw out a positive comment. You can help make the difference for our surfer so please take the time and vote for them.

Most of us that grew up surfing had dreamed about one or more of these things; getting a picture in the surf mags, having a cool sponsor, getting paid to surf, going on rad trip or even having a part in a surf movie. Most people would be forever happy by making the Surfer Magazine Hot 100 #2 spot, like Clay recently did but Clay Marzo has taken it to another level. Clay just got an 8 page story in the April issue of Rolling Stone. Yup Rolling Stone magazine! Now if that isn't frickin cool you must be from Mars. I am calling out "rock star" status here for Clay. I really am not a big believer in too much text on blogs. I think most of us like pictures and videos. Visual stimulation seems to have the biggest impact but since this is so rad I am going to put the whole article on this, so if you like to read here it is for free. Clay you're the man and thanks for being on the team! John
